Alright, so I had heard about this movie coming out months ago and I was like, "Cool!" And then slowly forgot about it. But almost every day in my first period we talk about Avatar the show (because we're all a bunch of dorks.) Anyway, two of my friends wanted to me to draw a picture of them fighting as a firebender and airbender. I don't know if they wanted it to be like Zuko and Aang, but...

So I was looking up reference pictures for the fighting style of both the firebenders and the waterbenders when I came across this video on youtube. This person makes a video of everything that has been released from information, to who's been cast behind the scenes, to who's been cast on the scenes, the effects, and all that whatnot.

And I just realized:

I am SO excited!

THE MOVIE COMES OUT JULY 2, 2010 (just to let those who don't want to read this long ass thing all the way through know)

But something I found out today, they're not just making one movie: they're making three.

When you watch the teaser, that is just what it is: a teaser. And with only a teaser, people seem to think the movie won't be that great. And their main reason seems to be because Night is directing it. (And for those waiting for the ful length trailer like me, it'll come out around CHRISTMAS. So look forward to it soon!)

But if you look up what is going on, the actual details and how things are being gone about, the movie looks just phenomanal. You don't have to agree with me, but I do suggest you look up some of this stuff before you make a decision you want to stick to.

At first, when I saw the boy playing Aang, I was like, "Huh? I'm not sure I like him." But then I saw his actual costume and tattoos and he does look great. The tattoos though have been changed, from just the plain blue arrows to what looks like an actual tribal sign of the airbenders.

And I love the girl they chose for Katara if only because she looks the part to me. Even if she looks a little young. But, remember, they're making a trilogy.
And her hair has been changed to what it was supposed to be originally, except the braid. I don't know why they took that out.

I'm sorry, but I adore Jackson and I think he'll make a great Sokka. If I'm not mistaken, he even shave the sides of his head to make Sokka's hairstyle. What has been released though is that he won't be as "immature" as he was at times in the show. Night was quoted to say that he took out parts of the too slap stick comedy and the humor that was put there for the little kids.

Remember, this is a movie meant for young adults and up. The fart jokes aren't needed.
So, don't blame Jackson if you don't like Sokka.

And while we're on the subject of Sokka, he's not at all forgotten in the series. What was taken away from him was given back twofold: he's given fight scenes. And not just some idiotic two second swipe of the boomerang either. In one scene he's attacked by three differnet enemies with only his boomerang to defend himself while trying to find Katara.

That's not all he gets to do, but to spoil it all wouldn't be fun now would it?

I will admit I don't know the boy who plays Zuko. I only know that he was in Slumdog Millionaire (which I haven't seen) and he's won awards for his acting.
They're keeping the scar, but it's not that great looking in the pictures. Then again, these pictures can't be seen properly on computer screens and Zuko himself hasn't been finished in the digital post production. But he won't be keeping his ponytail like in the beginning. But they do throw in the ponytail in the helmets the firebenders wear. It was said that this was a "salute" to his hairstyle from before.

And... Iroh's character design is going to be different from the original in the show...meaning he probably won't be fat. Thet wanted a more natural look for the actor playing him... though i really would have liked Uncle to stay Uncle... he's not fat and his hair and costume really are nothing like the character.
But you have to admit, it would be hard to recreate Uncle's looks. Possibly, if you really think about it, harder than any other character.
Buts, here's a fun fact, the man who plays Iroh apparently really is part of the White Lotus.

And, apparently, Gene Simmons, yes the lead singer from Kiss, is apparently going to be one of the Dragon Spirits in the movie. It's possible that he won't be Roku the Dragon because the movie wanted more simpler ideas for the audience to understand; meaning that the dragon may just be a helping dragon spirit to all avatars.

The soundtrack is just amazing from what I've heard. The guy who did the soundtracks for movies like "Signs", "King Kong", and who worked with Hanz Zimmerman will being doing the score.

And it's being turned into a manga! has been given the task of doing the art! They are doing the prequel (which will have more to do with Zuko's banishment) and the actual story itself.

The sets are just beautiful and the effects are outstanding. The leading company in the world is doing the effects for the movie (I'm terribly sorry but I can't remember the name right now) and the sets are just beautiful. Each one looks authentic and a lot of money was spent to make it look like the backgrounds of Avatar and not some cheap imitation. Small things like the doorknobs, emblems, and tiny decorations were added to make it look more like the fire nation, or the water tribe, or the earth kingdom. The destruction of the air nation is just fantastic. It all looks real.

Apparently, from what I've heard, they are also making the movie "more cultured." As in, instead of eveything and everybody being chinese, they are bringing in different races to the people and adding touches to the sets to make it seem like the whole world instead of china. There's even word that they'll be using a made up langauge instead of asian letters.

The trilogy itself is supposed to take six years. That seems long, but if you think about it, the movies will have a lot of CG and extra effects along with the background music and editing. Think of it like that and we're lucky to get the entire thing after six years.

Also, they're writing it as they go.
Lord of the Rings was out so quick because it was all filmed at the same time.
Avatar will finish one movie, and then get started on the next script then film and repeat that one more time.

No one that I've talk to knows.
My thoughts?
She's coming in the second movie.
The first movie is supposed to set the backdrop.
The second the plot
The third the climax.

But I really do hope Toph shows up. How can you NOT have her?

And give this movie a chance, guys. There's a lot of shit going around about Twilight and New Moon but you have to realize that not everyone going to watch a movie based off something is a fan. Something the fans really want to see in movies are actually things you have to see the whole series to get and have to be cut to make sense for the movie.
Just think about that before you attack.
And the movies can't always have everything because then people would know what would happen before it did.
Give it a chance before you completely murder it, alright?
